In order; A) They either don't want anything to do with the games industry since they got majorly messed with back in the day or the email address is bad and the server's not set to respond.
B) Because they may not always be the right holder for the code and, despite it being several years ago now, the contracts they signed are still binding.
C) Because they need the space, can't see the point in keeping workfiles around, the disks got damaged in some way that means they're no longer any good or there weren't any coffee mats available when some friends came over... =-)

I cannot understand why some ex-C64 programmers either a) do not bother replying to your email's b) seem a bit unlikely to part with any games or code c) throw out their development disks - to me that would be like EMI getting rid of the master tapes of The Beatles!! Oh well - rant over! A lot of ex-C64 programmers are no longer bothered, or know that a loyal following still exists. And copyright still exists even after a firm goes bankrupt - but some firms have been generous (e.g. Gremlin, Llamasoft) in releasing old games as freeware.

Yes I understand about the copyright issues involved (and I know its been discussed a million times before, elsewhere!) but a lot of the companies have now disappeared into the nether - Besides nobody is likely to make any money out of it (apart from those few unscrupulous people who sell emulator discs!). Anyway sorry for hijacking the thread..Rant is definetly over!!

Occasionally we'll find some people who are more than happy to help out, as they'd love nothing more to let people see something they did years ago, that never quite got the chance to be seen.. Dan Phillips in particular is that kind of person, and he offered Armalyte 2 without any real hunting involved.... from the result of a passing email one day in my mail box
