Frank, this may be a silly question, but...
Steve Rowlands surfaced on the Lemon forum a few months ago, have you made contact with him to ask about the Apex games that never saw the light of day?

Hi Phil, Yeah, I noticed Steve talking on Lemon recently.. though I don't think I would have been able to get a reply... so many people went mad, it was like a Beatles concert crowd However, Andy Roberts contacted me regarding their games, and they may let us see them in the future. They are quite busy at the moment though, and the disks are packed up (And many disks too!!). If we need to find anything out though, Andy has offered to help out or ask the guys. One thing they do have is the end sequence to Search For Sharla.... i'm not sure what other bits they have. We'll just have to hold out for them until they get some free time.. but promising development there

Promising indeed On the subject, I just had a thought - wasn't there a Mayhem 2/Mayhem Deluxe planned? Could that be a possible GTW?

Certainly was... but AFAIK, it was never started at all..
Andy was gonna do the PC version, which probably would have essentially had the ideas from 2.
The review can however go into the archives, just as a mention that the game was planned after the success of the first game.
The sequel was apparently to feature a level editor or something... unless i'm mixing up with what a reader requested....
