Perhaps some of our Danish members can shed a little light on some of their local software houses? I'm sure I read something about Kele Line(?) releasing what I think was a Rampage-like game called something like "Go Ape". Apparently there was a press event with one of the directors stomping some cardboard buildings while wearing a gorilla costume. (All this from a faint memory and probably a Danish or Swedish magazine back in the day.)
Never saw that game making a commercial debut. There could be more games planned there too.
I think many of those coders and gfx/audio people went Amiga and did stuff like Hybris, Battle Squadron, Sword of Sodan, Zoom and more.

Well, if there is anything from these days... please get people to fill out one of the contact forms, and we'll archive the information for future updates! We need to preserve as much information as possible, so we are always taking game GTW submissions in the shape and form of downloads, reviews, information, scans etc. I'll pop GO APE down for a start!... feel free to pass on the URL to any Danish people who might know more!

I scanned through a few old magazines without finding anything, but there might be something in the magazines still stored with my parents. BTW, Sodan is on the net even if he is out of the business. Check www.sodan.dk and especially www.sodan.dk/oldbits/vikings.html . I don't know if the Cracker's Revenge game(s?) has any place in GTW since it was released as intended. Doesn't it look a lot like wossname Tony Crowther game?

I've given Sodan a quick email to see if he did any unreleased work. Cyborg would have been one had it not been released by Creative Sparks. As for Crackers Revenge... I think this was just a hacked version of Blagger or something?... One of Tony's games anyway

Just stumbled across this marvellous forum - seems like this is the place to be :-) I am from Denmark, and I do ofcourse remember Kele Line very good. They released quite nice titles such as The Vikings (coded by the mighty SODAN) and also Tiger Mission. I have a release list from Kele Line somewhere, where most of the titles was never released and most likely never even initiated in the programming phase. I will find that list and publish the titles here, I am sure some new "Games that weren't" would pop up here :-) Regarding Crackers Revenge / SODAN, you are right, it is based on the Son Of Blagger. SODAN was at that time mostly known as being a famous cracker ("SODAN & ACE") in the mid eighties

Hi Zarch, A games list would be very useful!... we can add this to our wanted list. I've just discovered on my travels that "GO APE!" is actually in Gamebase as a preview. It's sneaked out somehow in the past. I will add this soon. Glad you like the forum!... certainly we get a few interesting bits of research and info shared to help us find a few games Frank

Definately a nice place this :-) Do you have any affiliation with www.gtw64.co.uk/ ?! (Maybe I can read it somewhere, I just did not get to that point yet :-)) I found the list. I am one of those guys who find it hard to throw certain things out when it comes to my life on the C64 and Amiga scene. So I still got it all :-)) The list can be scanned ofcourse - but here you will get it.. I will just write down the C64 related titles :-) Winter 86/87 - Spring 87 November: The Vikings (was released) December: Tiger Mission (was released) January: Unitrax (never saw this, arcade action game) February: Sight Attack (never saw this, arcade action game) Thunderforce (probably the one released later by Rack-It/Hewsons budget label. Thanks Mayhem :-)) The 4th Dimension (never saw this, arcade action game) Pirates Of The Ocean (never saw this, arcade action game) March: Speedfighter (never saw this, arcade action game) Alcatrax (never saw this, arcade action game) Ironoid (never saw this, arcade action game) Eagle (If this is Eagles, this is probably the one released by Hewson later on) So I guess there is plenty of titles to dig into. As you can see, GO APE is not listed here either. Also there was another company called Starvision Software around that time. They released M.A.C.H. (coded by a guy named Thomas Zelikmann) - but I don't know if they had more work in progress... ?

GTW64 is the parent site of this forum btw As for Eagles, that was published by Hewson. Thunderforce I believe was published, picked up by Rack-It (Hewson's budget label) and released on there.

Mayhem, you are totally right. It was Hewson, not Firebird. Fantastic music by Jozz / Johannes Bjerregaard :-) Thunderforce was also released. Sorry for the incorrect information in my previous post.. corrected now! My memory seems to be defragmented after all these years (Windows bug?) :-D

And there I was thinking that my hazy memory was just wishing the title to be Go Ape. Good to see that it works correctly some times at least.
I never throw away any magazines so I'll eventually find the article I read, but I have no idea when that will be. (Most of the old stuff is still stored with my parents.)
Odd that the preview has no credits though.
