A blog write up for some progress.... It has been a very busy week this week, so the updates have been short and sweet for now. There are a few titles being fixed up, including Apex's Tree demo, where a special sprite slideshow is being knocked up for us. Additionally there are two massive GTW titles which have been found, one of which will be released next week. The other title is also not to get hopes built up... both titles are not full games, but work in progress titles. However, because of what we do and how highly we have regarded one of the titles in the past... both are very important finds. The later game is something which has pleased me a lot to see found. Research has been very good, with some big developments happening on Streethawk. Strangely we have spoken to both Mike Webb and Colin Gresty within a week of each other. Sadly neither have any C64 versions of the game, so now we await Paul Hughes findings when he trudges up into his attic. The warming news is that Colin's version was confirmed as about 90% complete, and with all of Martin's music installed into it and playing. We also learn of the game's 8 directional scrolling, which promises us something sounding like GTA (but obviously nowhere near as good ). The other great news is that we have tracked down the great Peter Baron, who is famous for Salamander and Myth on the C64. Peter suddenly left the games industry soon after the Devious Designs project was cancelled. By pure chance I got in touch, and Peter is happy to help answer any questions. However, Peter is a very busy man with various projects to finish, so it will be a slow process... but intriguing is when Peter mentioned about "digging out" some bits for us. Maybe he has something left of Devious Designs still, or even Myth 2?... Who knows... Well, we hopefully will know soon... Separate from GTW. Gamebase have been looking for a title called "Orm and Cheep - The Birthday Party" for some time now. I recently found the title, but it was sold to another ebay member. Very kindly, the winner has loaned us the game to port... and this has been all done and sent to Gamebase. Another lost released game found Game work has been non-existant... I've done 3 levels for Richard's RWSN game, but have had a week off from it all.

As you may well know, GTW's server space on Ozkan has sadly gone after the server blew up. This is the reason why there has been no updates yet. I have completed a small update, but will keep building this until we have new server space. I've had two very kind benefactors who have offered server space, and i'll be sorting out what to do very soon once i've talked to Ejber. Mat Allen has brought up a very good topic about why we haven't registered a .co.uk address, and thanks to Mat i'll be sorting this out this week. The new address is most likely to be www.gtw64.co.uk to keep it short and sweet. If anyone has other suggestions, please mail me or post em on here. Also off topic, but i'm very sad to learn of CGEUK being in disarray due to the Excell center event being cancelled. I really hope that things get sorted out, even the event being redrafted to the Fairfield Halls like last year.... it will be a HUGE shame to see this fantastic event cancelled. And I wish Chris all the best in whatever he does now at this point. I suggest not to contact Chris just yet, as I am guessing that he's pretty pissed with it all at the moment. No doubt in time Chris will let people know what is happening, once things settle. C64 development has been halted at the moment. I've done Richard a fair bit of graphic work to play around with for now. So until Richard gets the RWSN/Sub Hunter game engines fully working, i'll probably leave it for now. Both titles graphics are almost complete though.

Right, well plenty has happened (not finding wise) in the way of servers. GTW64 now lives on the same server as PCGTW, thanks to Timo, and that gives us plenty of space to mess around with again. Thanks to Ejber for originally giving us some webspace, and also to Russ Michaels for offering some server space too. At the moment, the URL is being sorted for GTW. I've just bought the www.gtw64.co.uk url for about £2.95 a year. Now I just have to get it redirecting to the new server No developments yet.. but i've managed to create a much neater News page and header in CSS, which should cut down loading times... More soon

News page and header are now done in CSS to attempt to condense code and speed things up a bit. Over time the whole site will be made tableless, so hopefully those with slow connections will benefit. You can now access GTW64 via www.gtw64.co.uk , so please update your bookmarks, site links etc. Update coming this weekend

Update is coming up, though i've been preparing some new buttons/areas to go in the header, one which will contain GTW based features. So to go first in this section will be a feature called "Cart Crazy", which takes a look at all the various cartridges that companies promised for the C64GS, but never saw the light of day. There are a few bits, including Turrican 3 V1 by Protovision. Some good news also for a long lost GTW is here too

A small update tonight with 4 new reviews added... (*) Colourspace 64 review added (*) Mindbending Aliens From Hyperspace (*) The Power 2 and.. (*) Mario Is Missing. Hopefully i'll be continuing site maintainence and research in the meantime now. Enjoy Additionally its been a bit quiet since last updates events. The Plasmatak tapes are on their way in a few days, plus we are waiting on a few other GTW titles which are yet to be finished off to release. We have a special interview coming up hopefully in a few weeks time or less, with a programmer who produced probably one of the finest C64 games ever seen. I will be trying to tidy code some more and start the slow process of converting existing pages to CSS. I will start by converting the A-Z pages to CSS, so the size will decrease dramatically filesize wise. Then after that I will develop the CSS template for the main review pages and begin doing all new reviews in this format. The gradual process of moving all 622 reviews (including sub pages) over to the new templates will be done bit by bit (Maybe 10 games a week). Its not too important ... but larger pages will be the main target. Also here we have a rather lot of information on various GTW titles we are yet to document and information we are yet to add for existing titles. I am going to try and create a single document containing all the information, fully ordered so we don't lose anything. At the moment we have a big folder full of bits Forum merger poll is going slowly, but i'm getting an indication of what people think, plus what Andrew and Jazzcat think too. I'll be giving it a few weeks before I close the poll anyway. Either way, PCGTW and GTW64 are working together and helping each other out... which is what I felt would be a huge advantage of having mirror sites for other platforms. Already Timo has given us leads to some of the Demonware titles, and we've managed to promise some bits and pieces of a particular PC title. So long may it continue!

Yup... things have been rather dead recently... mainly because work has been quite busy and various other things have been going on. Plasmatak has been sent through, but sadly there was only really a charset to be found at present. It is now hoping that Steve Collins finds another tape back at his home in Ireland with the remains of the preview. I'll be presenting what we have found for the next update, but sadly its not much we're afraid. An update is in progress, with about 4 reviews written up ready, and we should get one out by Friday at least. The Retro Gamer article deadline is this friday for me, so it will be a bit tight. A very clear screenshot of Mega Twins has been found by Patrick Furlong in an Amstrad magazine (Which seems to have reviewed a preview... tsh tsh). This will be added soon. Remembered that i've got to take a look at modifying the A-Z pages and cut them down... i'll do this tonight hopefully. Work has recommenced on Sub Hunter with Richard Bayliss, and the game parallax is almost ready. Just some tweaks to the layers and colours, but it is really starting to look quite nice. There are a lot of ideas which will be going into the game, so it won't be a case of just collecting 5 swimmers, but there will be a lot of variety between levels. Looking forward to seeing the sprites go in next week.. If anyone's got submissions, keep them coming!.... i've had some scans sent through and other bits.... but we're always looking for materials
