A long gap.. mainly because its been busy as usual Right... GTW is being updated, and i'm about 2/3 reviews away from another small update. Did quite a hefty chunk last night Some reports... (*) There has been contact with regards to 40 Alligata master disks which were brought at a bootfair in Sheffield. There are one or two GTW titles on them disks, and Jim is hoping to check the disks out very soon for us. Hopefully it may mean finding some new GTW titles!.. More soon we hope! (*) GTW64 was made Website of the month in GamesTM this month, and an interview will be coming up in issue 25. After all the hard work which has gone into this project, it was particularly special to me, and has proved to me that this project is worth all the time and hassle .. So thanks for everyone making it what it is today (*) A new GTW title has been uncovered for next update. Trigger Happy, a Delta'esq shootemup preview will be put up in a few days. (*) Thanks to Glenn, we have a screenshot for Streethawk v2.... So now we have shots for both versions of the Ocean game. There is news of the sources existing on a particular person's ST dev system, so there might be something there someday! (*) Can we find a big release for this Christmas?... How can we top Deadlock and Solar Jetman?... Well, that is the task we have on our hands, and hopefully it wont prove too difficult. We'll see Apart from that... the odd bit of work has been done for Sub Hunter. Sprites are complete, and Level 1 is done. Level 2 is almost ready... and 3 and 4 shouldn't take too long. There are 4 different designs, which will be extended using colour swapping for other levels to accompany the many sprites which have been drawn up. Once all the gfx is done, the aim will be to extend past the simplicity of the Vic 20 version and add some new dimensions to the gameplay.. which will be the hard part! As GameOver pointed out from the early preview, the game as it is with the gameplay is not enough.. and it needs more. Certainly the preview is only a demonstration of the Vic 20 version converted in a day, but there has been always intention of trying to add new ideas.. which have been thrown around left, right and center! I think that if we get the ideas right and the balance, it could be Richard's best effort so far. Of course, if we fail, then it will be a learning experience for hopefully future projects.. Right.. time to get to work... more soon I hope EDIT.. Site update done.. another small one for now. enjoy

Some very exciting developments all of a sudden ... (*) Blockade Runner has been found and archived.. and we will hopefully be bringing you the game in a few weeks time. Screenshots will probably appear first until the supplier gets permission from the game's coder to release his work. (*) Not sure if I can say too much, so I will be a little discrete.. but there has been remains discovered of yet another unreleased/incomplete Ultimate Play The Game conversion turn up... this time of a Speccy classic. Charsets and bits of code have been discovered.. and its all being examined at the moment to see what the situation is on it. Although it wont be as complete as Solar Jetman.. its another crucial finding. More when I find out, and when/if I am able to give out any details. (*) Lasse yesterday has decided to release his old and unreleased version of Metal Warrior 4 into GTW to preserve the title... and this will be added for the next update. We hope to by then obtain some words from Lasse, and also some possible sketches and ideas to accompany the game. More soon as it comes

Been a little busy researching... (*) Trying to find Steve Wahid, in the hope of talking about Streethawk V2 with him. (*) Contacted various members of Tiertex to try and help find Mega Twins. Am currently chasing up a lead to an ex-employee who works at Retro Productions. (*) Had a fantastic email from Paul Koller, who has posted GTW two excellent scanned screenshots for SDI and King Of Chicago. So thats two for SDI, and now one at last for King Of Chicago!... can we find more?? SUB HUNTER progress... (*) Completed a set of animation's in SEUCK of all the sprites for Richard to see how I want them animating, and at what speeds etc. Also gave a Sprite sheet, detailing about what sprite has what explosion, bullet etc. (*) Level 1 and 2 are now both complete. Richard will be soon working on his Parallax routine to test the first level out, and possibly with some sprites roaming around. (*) Sat down and came up with a series of ideas for some variety for the gameplay. Some interesting ideas to consider at least. And thats it.. i'll start the update in a day or two. But a nice little update coming up anyway

Working, so things are slow ... but at least i've started the next GTW update (*) Contact has been made with an ex-Tiertex worker, but sadly they had no link to Mega Twins, and left in 1990, and eventually moved to the states in 1991. The search continues then for more employees. (*) A big GTW has turned up, which has shocked myself a little bit. More soon on this soon, but we are looking to obtain it to archive, if it is the C64 version and not the Speccy version (No, its not Daffy Duck!! ) (*) Chris West has released the Bomb demo's to the public to check out. GTW will hopefully add these next update for you to see (If not, grab them from Chris' website). We are checking now if we should still include Bomb as a GTW, considering it will eventually be completed. Sadly thats it at the moment... more soon if we get anything

Some research being carried out today, including a chase up for the long lost Bubbler game on the C64. We need help on locating other games, so if anyone feels bored and wishes to track down anyone for us to chase up, then please feel free to (*) Update coming tonight. A nice bigish one, with a exclusive of Metal Warrior 4 Version 1 being launched. (*) John Kemp has also added himself to the Cyberdyne Interview with Dan Phillips and Robin Levy. The Cyberdyne Article will soon be HTML'ized to add to everything. (*) Paul Hughes has managed to read and port over some of his ST source disks... this potentially means that he could unlock a load of unreleased Ocean games and their sources in the near future... including... (holds breath) Streethawk V2 (Or even V1 as well). This is a potentially exciting time. Paul has currently found the sources to Operation Thunderbolt and his HitLoader (The hitsquad version of Freeload). (*) Hein Holt has pointed out to GTW, another two great games which we have overlooked.. one with some gorgeous 16 colour bitmap scrolling. These will be added next update. (*) Search for Mega Twins has hit a brick wall... contact made with two past Tiertex employees has given negitive response to finding the game or who was behind it. Search goes on then... (*) www.c64hq.com has released pictures of the unreleased Rubicon 2 game on the C64. Not properly started, but The Sarge did pixel a few screens and graphical blocks. GTW will be preparing a review for the next update, and hopefully will obtain permission to borrow the shots or link to them. And thats it for now... update should be done sometime tonight! Thank you and good night!

It has been very slow of late... mainly because of news of redundancy from my 16 hour job to make up the pennies, plus a load of marking i'm currently doing. Apart from that, there has been bits going on... (*) The 'Ultimate' game has been recieved on disk, and so far its been discovered that there are a series of sprites and some unfinished background chars. There is some random code on there too, which is going to be examined very soon. (*) A rare unreleased Jon Wells title has been uncovered thanks to Kenz, a very early parallax test demo and a music demo by Jon and some other goodies. These will be coming soon! (*) Also relating to Jon, artwork created by the Art Ravers has been handed over to Andrew Fisher by Wayne himself which was meant for a few of Jon's games. These will at somepoint be compiled into a slideshow when there is more time. (*) Paul has emailed me the sources to FreeSave and FreeLoad... and these will be going up soon, along with a history by Paul himself. (*) There was a possible lead with regards to Mega Twins, and the project manager was tracked down thanks to LeeT... but upon asking questions of the C64 development team, there has since been no reply And thats it for now... the update will likely be in just over a week (Fingers crossed)... it will be started hopefully tonight! Cheers!

Just some apologies for the long delay in the recent update. Mainly there has been a heck of a lot going on.. some unbelievable things too. The update is *slowly* being worked on, though it could be about a week or so until its done. Right, well I got made redundant from my part time work placement (Co-op closes at Xmas Eve).. two days after this I ironically had a job interview for a full time position which I had no chance of (On my birthday, ironically still). Chance is that I actually GOT the job, and will be starting early January in my first full time break Apart from that, i've been marking assignments recently.. and prepping for my part time teaching job.. so that has taken a lot of time. With regards to GTW... there has been a fantastic development with regards to an 'Ultimate Play The Game' game on the C64 you would never imagined existed. Incomplete, but nether the less its very crucial viewing. Can't say no more just yet. Sub Hunter development has halted just for now. Richard is quite busy with work, and finishing two other projects... and the graphics are mostly done now anyway. Just waiting until Richard starts full proper development of the game, when i'll then finish the final two level designs off. And thats it.. just an update to let people know why is so god damn quiet!

The updates slowly are coming along. About 4 done so far, and still going. Here's an update of whats happening... (*) Some unreleased Alf Yngve games are coming this way very soon, including the impressive Project Argus game. (*) More found of Jon Wood's Colony game, coming soon. (*) Very interesting findings and bits for about 4/5 Eclipse/Bonespark Software games which never quite made it. Reviews, creator speaks, shots, animations coming up. (*) An improved version of Boombastic Benny has been put forward, including sfx and music features. (*)An interview with Dave Palmer of Hi-Tec is coming soon. (*) Information on Flimbos Quest 2 from Arthur Van Jole is also coming soon. One week of teaching to go, then its preparation for a massive update. lets just hope the webspace doesn't run out just yet

The next update of GTW will be just before Christmas, and yes... it will be the Christmas Special. There sadly is nothing on the scale of Solar Jetman or Deadlock to be announced, but who knows what might turn up in the dying days There's gonna be a nice meaty amount of new game reviews, some interesting updates and some new GTW titles for first release... Including a very early unseen preview by Jon Wells. Possibly there may also be yet another Apex game demo too. Any infos, review bits, leads etc... please bung them to the usual address... i'll compile as much as I can!

Well, i'm still alive... and a small update as promised has just been done. More soon I promise. I'm settling into my new job, and finding my feet now. Richard Bayliss asked for some graphics for RSWN recently as well as those for Sub Hunter. I have agreed to for now, and am currently doing some sprites and backgrounds for Richard to mess around with. I'm not as involved as with Sub Hunter, but i'll be giving some input to improve the game hopefully along with others giving Richard ideas. Dave Palmer has been rather busy of late, so the interview is still on, but it all hangs on when Dave finally gets a spare afternoon to have a go. More soon.. but now to do some more sprites...

Great news!
A good section of games by the guys behind Lemmings on the C64 are coming this way soon.
One game sent today is the first version of Troddlers which features about 7 levels that are playable.
There should be some more soon, which is great news, and hopefully will preserve these once lost titles. Not sure if anything of Prince Of Persia will be found yet, but that is unlikely.

Small update coming up, mostly with a focus on Jon Well's other games, including Astromine. There will also be some other goodies too hopefully We are currently trying to find out information about "Snoopy and Peanuts" on the C64, being developed by The Edge. This game was brought up in discussion on Lemon64, and has been overlooked by us... so expect a review coming up shortly. I'm considering allowing people to submit GTW reviews for the site, if it might increase the level of update content each time. Not sure what people think of this, but it would mean writing reviews to be consistant with the current style of things in GTW. What it would do is clear up a lot of backlogs we haven't done yet, and provide a bigger archive of material. Just an idea for now, but its being considered.

Another update tonight.. (*) Astromine, Germ Alert and Weebles Adventures all see entries. (*) ’Vandor’ (WOTLOW) preview as released by coder, entered into GTW to download. (*) The Edge’s ’Snoopy & Peanuts’ game reviewed. I've mentioned news today that we have some leads for Batman Returns and Parasol Stars. Ally Noble has been in touch, and hopefully we'll be finding out some more about her involvement with Batman Returns on the C64. Allan Shortt has been suggested as the C64 programmer of Parasol Stars. He is contactable, and it is just being confirmed if he was indeed the programmer... this could turn out to be a big breakthrough. A few new GTW releases are on the way... one or two are being held back for certain reasons, but I should be putting a special game that has been patched up by next week. More soon

Some more news of things happening in the GTW world... (*) Allan Shortt has confirmed his non-involvement with Parasol Stars, so the search continues (*) Thanks to Jason Kelk, more information has been uncovered on a game called Little Beau, which was in production by the guys behind Colditz. More on this soon. (*) Project Argus will be next on GTW, after enhancements have been completed. Power-ups are missing sadly, but the game is otherwise ready. We hope to get a discussion with Alf Yngve about the game very soon. (*) Allan Bairstow has been a very big saviour, sending loads of disks from the likes of Russ Michaels and John Woods. Sadly nothing was found within Russ' disks, but there might be one or two useful GTW bits on John's disks (Colony remains). I'm just sifting through now! (*) Richard Frost has been in touch with regards to Jon Well's Weebles Game. He may have a demo of the game still, and will be attempting to dig this out for us to gain screenshots. We are not able to bring the demo in any case by request of Jon himself. And thats it. Same time this weekend should be another update. 3 reviews are ready already, so i'll do my best for the rest.
